Project ENGINE (Endeavor for Next Generation of INterventional Endoscopy) is an open innovation R&D platform that brings industries, universities and governments to jointly develop cutting-edge medical devices, with a scholarly approach unique to academia. During its 10 years activities, ENGINE has commercialized >10 medical devices, applied >100 patents, published >32 peer-reviewed scientific articles. More recently ENGINE has been aggressively involved in human resource development of industries. DRIVE (Design and Research Initiatives for Virtual Engineering) is a system to provide them an opportunity to learn basics of virtual engineering, especially rapid prototyping. With strong collaboration with 3D4MED, we believe ENGINE / DRIVE will further enhance their roles in medical device R&D.
