3D4Med laboratory (HP MJF tech center) will host an HP digital manufacturing event to discuss and demonstrate HP additive technologies.
A case-studies driven meeting, where you can learn from the experience of our users, know more about the technology and take advantage of some good networking time.
3D printing has become a well-known tool in the medical world, as demonstrated by the growing number of examples of its use. In this event, 3D4Med and Stratasys will show how 3D printing can become a systematic part of clinical-surgical applications with multiple intended uses: surgical planning support, preoperative training and simulation, patient informed consent, and education.
The Urology Department of Fondazione IRCCS Policlinico San Matteo requested 3D4Med support for the production of two 3D printed models for surgicalplanning and anatomical comprehension. Both clinical cases regard patients referred to Fondazione IRCCS Policlinico San Matteo for kidney cancer. Patients underwent a kidney tumors' enucleation procedure and the 3D printed models were used to better understand the tumors' positioning and degree of infiltration.
A 65-years old athlete referred to Fondazione IRCCS Policlinico San Matteo after cardiac arrest, presenting with a rare right coronary anomaly (right coronary artery ostium atresia) and no other causes of sudden cardiac death. A 3D Virtual model has been reconstructed from CT scan through image segmentation techniques. In CT imaging, the use of contrast medium highlights the blood flowing inside vessels, while their wall remains mostly invisible...
The team of Dr. Pelenghi, director of Cardiac Surgery Unit at Fondazione IRCCS Policlinico San Matteo (Pavia), performed the world’s first “beating heart” surgical implant of an innovative pulmonary valve prosthesis on an over 50 years old patient, suffering from idiopathic pulmonary arterial hypertension. The surgical strategy was planned on the virtual and 3D printed anatomical model of the affected district, realized by the 3D printing clinical laboratory "3D4Med".
